TLP Test System
An Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the sudden and momentary electric current that flows between two objects at different electric potentials caused by direct contact or induced by an electrostatic field. The term is usually used in the electronics and other industries to describe momentary unwanted currents that may cause damage to electronic equipment.
ESD is the most frequent cause of failure in ICs. By using the Using the ATV ESD Test system you can verify the integrity of your device protection design.

Measuring principle
A 50Ω cable is charged. The length of the cable determines the duration of the pulse. The pulse is triggered by closing a high voltage relais. The pulse runs through cable and attenuator to the device under Test (DUT). An oscilloscope is used to acquire the pulse curve. Afterwards a DC Leakage measurement takes place in order to check the DUT for possible defects. Based on a variety of tests a typical I-C curve is created.
